After four straight losses coming into Week 12’s matchup with the New York Giants on the road at MetLife Stadium, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers desperately needed to get back on track on Sunday in order to salvage their season and any chance of potentially being playoff-bound.

Fortunately for Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers were facing one of the worst teams in the NFL on Sunday, who made a quarterback change this week, going from Daniel Jones, who was ultimately released, to Tommy DeVito.

That said, Tampa Bay had the ideal opportunity to have a tune-up game against an inferior opponent while getting veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield going, which is exactly what happened in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Even though Mayfield failed to throw a touchdown pass against the Giants, the Buccaneers’ run game was virtually unstoppable, with four rushing touchdowns, including one for their star quarterback.

In an interesting and entertaining twist, Mayfield busted out DeVito’s touchdown celebration after scoring just before halftime via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Although some might view this as disrespectful to the new starting quarterback for the Giants, the fact of the matter is New York had no answer for the Buccaneers’ ground game, and that’ll leave the team open to getting mocked.

With this win, the Buccaneers improve to 5-6 on the season and hope to keep their playoff hopes alive moving forward, even if it might be stretch that they can clinch a spot in the NFC in the final stretch of the 2024 campaign.
