The National Football League and MVP voters need to look deeply in the mirror.
It’s been 12 years since we last saw a non-quarterback win MVP, even though we’ve seen multiple players be more than deserving of the distinction.
Winning Offensive Player of the Year doesn’t carry the same weight, but it seems like it will take a miracle for a non-quarterback to win MVP.
With that in mind, former NFL player Chris Canty vouched for Saquon Barkley to get the nod.
Talking on ESPN Radio’s “UNSPORTSMANLIKE,” he claimed that Barkley is the best player on the best team in the league, adding that he’s the reason why the Philadelphia Eagles are going toe-to-toe with the Detroit Lions for the best record in the NFC.

He pointed out that he’s the entire Eagles’ offensive identity, and he’s on pace to break Eric Dickerson’s record for the most rushing yards in a single season.
Barkley just put up one of the best games of his career.
He torched the Los Angeles Rams for 255 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 26 rushes.
So far, he leads the league in total rushes (223).
He’s also leading the league with 1,392 rushing yards, 6.2 yards per carry, and 126.5 rushing yards per game.
It’s been long enough since a non-quarterback won MVP, and Barkley’s season is too good and dominant to ignore.
