Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is often termed as one of the greatest DLCs to ever grace a base game. The Land of Shadow, the birthplace of Marika, is introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree. The Hornsent, creatures resembling the Omens who ruled the Lands Between at the time, exterminated her people.
Encouraged by the Two Fingers, she used an artifact known as the Gate of Divinity to transform into a god. In order to hide her origins, and keep him from posing a threat in the future, she later ostracized him in the Land of Shadow. This expansion takes the game to a whole new level, but it should have depicted one of the creepiest places in the Lands Between.
Dominula Windmill Village – The Horror of the Dancing Women in Elden Ring
One of the more enigmatic factions in Elden Ring are the Godskins. A group of Nobles and Apostles, who, as the name indicates, flay their foes (including gods), they are a sinister faction present throughout much of the Lands Between. What is strange is that one of their central locations is very close to the city of the very gods they skin.
The majority of the towns in Elden Ring do not accept strangers who have been tarnished. It’s reasonable to assume the worst because locals have a tendency to attack players at first sight. But occasionally, a seemingly harmless townie can be worse than a hostile one.
Dominula, Windmill Village, and its pastures sit in the north of the Altus Plateau. Seemingly pleasing from afar, approaching it will quickly dispel any hope of a pleasant experience. The women of Dominula, in dresses and flower crowns, dance and laugh endlessly. The men on the other hand? Their fates are pretty grim.
In one of the pastures, a group cowers, and a Misbegotten uses a huge axe to prowl around some of their dead brethren. They might have escaped lightly because another Windmill Pasture shows more of the dancing revelers gathered around a bonfire—or what looks to be a bonfire until the figures rise, their skins burning. The villagers were furious for some reason. The dubious character at the top of the village may have something to do with this.
The Women of Dominula Are Terrifying
Things become more eerie as players immerse themselves in Dominula. According to their descriptions, the women use weapons made from human bone and turn on the player if they are attacked or otherwise disturbed.
Furthermore, no other enemies in Elden Ring have the unsettling ability to bite into their own wrists and spit blood at players like these insane celebrants occasionally do.
Why were these women so bloodthirsty? There are theories on the internet, but no one knows for sure. Fans only know for certain that these dancers’ skinning of victims alive is claimed by local spirits, which is nearly as unsettling as their dancing.
According to one theory, at the top of the hill, they worship a Godskin Apostle, who demands human skin as a form of retribution. There are no men in the village because of this. They were all burned, zombified, and skinned alive by the dancing ladies.
