Muneyuki Kaneshiro is Also Writing Another Manga That Has Absolutely Nothing to Do With Sports

In the sports genre, Muneyuki Kaneshiro’s Blue Lock has sent shockwaves, becoming one of the most popular football shows in recent times. Though there have been other popular titles such as Inazuma XI, Captain Tsubasa, Aoashi, and so many more, Kaneshiro-Sensei’s work has remained in a league of its own.

With an extremely competitive plot, where the players give their all to become the best striker in the world, failure can’t even be considered an option. The Otaku community came forward, showering the series and the author with love. Hence, they continue to watch the second season despite having a PowerPoint presentation-type animation.

However, many fans will be taken aback, when they will learn that the artist has been doing double time, where he is working on two series at the same time. Despite coming off as a shock the mangaka’s other work is starkly different from the one that fans have been reading with so much interest.

Muneyuki Kaneshiro Has Been Juggling Between Two Series At the Same Time

For most mangaka artists, working for only one series has been a pretty huge task, where they have to work inhumane hours to meet the industry standards. However, for Muneyuki Kaneshiro it is not a big deal, as he has been efficiently showcasing his artistic skills and creativity as a mangaka in different manga genres.

The author first began his career with a lesser-known but addictive horror series called Jagaaan in 2017. Gradually, he decided to expand his artistry in other genres as well, where in 2018, Blue Lock manga was released. The manga was a massive hit, where its unique approach of disregarding team chemistry, where the striker will be the only one, turns the cheers of the spectators into wails.

From Erling Haaland to Harry Kane, everyone has been influencing the series’ popularity, making the world talk about its unreal influence on the players and the beautiful game. Surprisingly, Kaneshiro-Sensei has not limited himself to working on his football series. Back in 2022, the author of Bllilion Dogs decided to go back to creating a gothic work with a never-before-seen plot, titled Super Ball Girls.

The plot revolves around Eita Ichiyoshi, a chocolate factory worker, who has grown bored with his low-paying job and the monotony that is followed in his everyday life. One day, while returning home, he encountered a mysterious ball, where a beautiful woman appeared before him after he threw the ball.

Adventures started taking in his subpar life, where the protagonist have to battle beings that the fair yet horrifying girl conjures. Needless to say, both of his ongoing works showcase major differences, where fans can’t catch a break from the high-stakes storyline that is penned down by the artist.

For all the otakus, who have a keen interest in watching football, they would all agree that when they first came up with the series’ concept of discarding teamplay and performing an experiment that involved 300 individuals. Though some called the artist a “mad man” for centering a story around a trend, it can’t be even called a sports series.

However, the series overcame all the odds featured in front of it, especially the question, “How can a striker decide a match where teamwork plays a key role?” The creator of the series answered the question during an exclusive interview, where he explained why his long characters have the potential to become the greatest egoists of the game. He said,

My biggest difficulty is creating characters who live for “someone else”. Simply because I am not that type myself.

Thus, Kaneshiro-Sensei gives a glimpse of himself, where he believes that having a selfless attitude for others is a great attitude, but living for others and seeing yourself standing above them gives the utmost satisfaction to self.

Blue Lock can be streamed on Hulu.
