The Batman sequel has certainly become one of the most anticipated DC projects in recent years. After the first part met the high expectations that fans had for it, the second film has even more riding on it. With this in mind, one can imagine that the surprisingly late release dates have fans somewhat concerned.
Recently, Jim Gordon’s actor, Jeffrey Wright, revealed some disappointing information about the next film. It could prove to be horrible news for the future of Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
Jeffrey Wright Brings Disappointing News for The Batman 2
Recently, Jeffrey Wright gave an interview with Inverse where he gave a much-needed update for The Batman 2. Only, the actor did not give much new information, only adding to what fans already knew about the 2026 release. He started by talking about the project itself, pointing out that there is a lot to explore within their Gotham.
There’s a lot to explore… I think the vision that [Reeves] has of Gotham is a really wonderful one, really rich and kind of grimy in the best way.
Talking about Matt Reeves and the vision of the director, he stated that he takes some very beloved themes from the comics and explores them in a “rich and kind of grimy” manner.
Then the actor started to talk about the next film and what fans can expect from it, but he did not have much information to share.
I’m excited about getting back there, but you probably know as much as I know. I haven’t read anything. I haven’t talked to Matt for a while. He’s been off doing his thing, I’ve been off doing mine. But I look forward to getting back there.
He explained that he knew about as much as the world does right now, adding that he has yet to read anything related to the project. Having not heard from Reeves in some time, he mentioned that the director has been busy doing his own professional pursuits, and Wright has been doing the same.
Implications and Delays
Although there are several instances where no answers are a good sign, Jeffrey Wright has not heard any updates about The Batman 2 could be a very bad thing. Jim Gordon is a very important part of Batman’s story, specifically in this case, considering Robert Pattinson’s film is more street-level and focuses on detective work.
Additionally, the film is set to release in 2026, a date that is already very far away from the first film, which was released in 2022. If the film is to be released on its announced date of 2nd October, it would have to begin filming soon. Considering how much time it has been taking between the sequels, the age of the actors would become an element to consider sooner or later.
Although Jim Gordon has been seen throughout many phases of his life, Robert Pattinson will be 40 years old by the time the second film releases. With this, the projects taking so much time could end up becoming fatal for the story of Pattinson’s beloved Batman.
