No one in the gaming industry could’ve predicted the success Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 would go on to have since its launch in September. The game has continued to grow in terms of content and popularity, with new updates giving players new features and items to explore.
Narratively, Space Marine 2 picks up many years after the events of the first game. We see a return of Titus and many other fan-favorite characters. However, one of these characters is so whiny that even developer Saber Interactive’s boss wants to punch him in the face!
Space Marine 2‘s Most Annoying Character Absolutely Hates Titus
Space Marine 2‘s rise to the top can be attributed to Saber’s commitment to recreating the Warhammer 40k universe with perfection. The developer has evolved the original Space Marine game while still retaining the very core of the franchise.
In an interview, Saber’s boss, Tim Willits, opened up about the development of Space Marine 2 and how the company approached it. When asked about the game’s storyline and Titus’ squad, he stated that Gadriel is one of the most whiny characters and wants to punch him hard.
Yes, he gets a little whiny, and I want to punch him, but yes, he’s like, “What is up with you?”
Gadriel was a Primaris Marine sergeant of Ultramarine Chapter’s second company who fought in many different wars. In Space Marine 2, he’s a part of Titus’ team and looks for leadership through the blind following of the codex.
However, throughout the game, Gadriel questions Titus out of envy and mistrust to stew in intrigue and suspicion. At one point, he even fights and attempts to kill Titus. It’s incredible how Saber has managed to craft such a character that everyone despises but can’t get enough of!
Space Marine 2 Cracks Down on Mods For Public Online Play
Saber has been quite aggressive in shutting down toxic behavior in Space Marine 2 that ruins players’ experience and makes the title less fun to play for one reason or another. While the issues that have risen due to the growth of the modding community aren’t particularly linked to toxic behavior, they’re still causing gamers a hard time.
Recently, Saber stated in a Steam blog post that mods are the cause of many issues for players, ranging from instability to deleted save files. Due to this, the developer would completely ban mods from public matches to ensure a proper experience for everyone.
All kinds of in-game mods will still be allowed to function in private Eternal War and private Operations lobbies. Saber also wants to give modders easier access to the game’s framework to enhance the development of new mods.
The changes will come with the upcoming December update for the game and might not be liked by many players in the community. In the past, Saber has been criticized by the community for various unneeded changes.
Despite that, Space Marine 2 has managed to hit new player milestones since its release, proving that the title is very popular and adored by its community. The studio’s decision to axe mods from public matches is a good way to make the game fair for everyone and stop non-mod users from being affected by modders.
