Ella Purnell walked into 2024 and took over the television industry without breaking a sweat. She’s having a moment and honestly, who’s surprised? The actress worked hard to get where she is today, having started her career as a child actress with films like Never Let Me Go.
2024 is definitely her year. From Fallout to Sweetpea, Ella Purnell took the entertainment industry by storm with one iconic role after the other. However, it is Arcane, the beloved animated series that takes the cake. Not only did the show shine a light on Ella Purnell’s skills as a voice artist, but it also broke insane records left and right.
Ella Purnell’s Arcane Shatters Records
After the immense success of season 1, Arcane returned to our screens this month only to boggle our minds even further. While television shows often falter after an incredible pilot season, Arcane proved why it’s the most GOATed series right now.
Upon its release, season 2 followed the footsteps of its predecessor and got itself a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating – a rather rare feat nowadays. With nine episodes and each better than the last, it had fans hooked on it right from the get-go.
The critical consensus reads, “Arcane’s second and final season is a supremely satisfying capper to an epic saga.” Needless to say, it was a satisfying end to a stunning show.
Based on Riot Games’ League of Legends, Arcane set a record ahead of its premiere as well. Variety confirmed that the show has officially broken a massive animation record by becoming the most expensive animated series of all time.
How expensive you ask? Well, about a whopping $250 million expensive. This number is distributed between both seasons. As per Variety, the amount was used to produce and promote the show, making it the most expensive animated series across both streaming and linear TV.
Ella Purnell Talks Season 2 and Her Character
Ella Purnell joined her co-star Hailee Steinfeld as they sat down with Tudum to discuss season 2 of Arcane. The two talented actresses voiced Jinx and Vi respectively and had a lot to say about their show.
As they answered fans’ burning questions, they were asked to give a piece of advice or warning to their characters and Purnell had the perfect answer: “Aw. I’d tell her it’s not her fault. Give her a hug.” Steinfeld matched her pitch and replied, “Same.”
Describing season 2 with one word, the girls said, “Masterful,” “Bonkers,” “Explosive,” “Good,” and “Gripping.”
Purnell created magic in 2024. Whether it was playing the deeply complex Jinx in Arcane, the sharp-witted Rhiannon in Sweetpea, or the optimistic Vault Dweller in Fallout, Purnell somehow managed to bring three perfect characters to life and we are so here for it!
