Popular talk show host Wendy Williams’ dementia diagnosis is said to have taken a severe turn since she filmed her documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams? According to her legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey, Williams’ health is decaying by the clock as she has become “cognitively impaired and permanently disabled”.
Diagnosed with primary aggressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, Sabrina Morrissey mentioned that the American TV show host has been “permanently incapacitated” due to her gradually deteriorating illness. Meanwhile, addressing the Where Is Wendy Williams? documentary, Morrissey further accused Lifetime program and executive producer Mark Ford of taking advantage of Williams’ ailment and acquiring embarrassing footage.
Wendy Williams Gets Permanently Incapacitated Amid Deteriorating Health
Fate took a major turn for Wendy Williams, as the renowned American TV personality went from hosting her popular talk show The Wendy Williams Show for over a decade to losing her mind and freedom to dementia. Diagnosed in 2023, Williams was said to have primary aggressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, which later led her to be placed under legal guardianship.
Surprisingly, within a year since her diagnosis, Wendy Williams’ health deteriorated massively, leaving her “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated”, as per her legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey (via Deadline). Considering how Williams has become permanently disabled within a span of a year, the court ordered Morrissey to oversee the former TV show host’s health as well as her finances.
This court-ordered guardianship led Sabrina Morrissey to file a lawsuit against Wendy Williams’ recently released documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? Although Morrissey previously tried and failed to stop the release of the Lifetime program, she further accused the company as well as the documentary’s executive producer Mark Ford of taking advantage of Williams’ ailment and vulnerability.
Sabrina Morrissey Accuses Producer of Taking Advantage of Wendy Williams’ Ailment
According to reports from Daily News, Sabrina Morrissey accused the Lifetime program of detailing Wendy Williams’ struggles with health and alcohol abuse since leaving The Wendy Williams Show, in the documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? Thereafter, although she failed to stop the documentary from being released on OTT platforms, Morrissey filed a lawsuit against the executive producer Mark Ford.
Accusing Mark Ford of taking “advantage of Williams’ cognitive and physical decline”, Sabrina Morrissey claimed that the talk show host was in no way capable of giving consent for the documentary, given her deteriorating mental health. Therefore, Morrissey shamed Ford for “creating and publishing” the documentary at a time when “Williams was highly vulnerable and clearly incapable of consenting to be filmed”.
Further, Sabrina Morrissey stated that documentary creators “intentionally manipulated and goaded” Wendy Williams to trigger her and extract embarrassing footage. However, amid the lawsuit, the Lifetime program noted that they had in fact taken “consent, input, and participation” from Williams way before the talk show host’s health deteriorated to the point where she needed a legal guardian.
