Not too long from now, the NFL’s regular season will come to a close, and some head coaches will get fired, which means there will be openings across the league.
Head coaches for the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets have already gotten fired, and with a few other teams posting disappointing seasons, one key question is how many more will be let go.
NFL insider Albert Breer recently predicted how many openings there might be this coming offseason.
“I think 7-10. We already have two,” Breer said on “The Dan Patrick Show.”

Breer said he feels the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys and a few other teams will fire their head coach and have openings within a couple of months.
This would create a couple of intriguing jobs for candidates across the league.
The one name people have been mentioning over the past several months is Bill Belichick, the legendary New England Patriots coach who has made his rounds in the media this season but is thought to want to make one more go-round as a head coach.
Mike Vrabel, the former Tennessee Titans head coach who was the 2021 NFL Coach of the Year, is another who will surely be in demand, as will Ben Johnson, the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator.
However, Breer pointed out that this offseason won’t feature a particularly deep group of candidates.
One intriguing potential opening he mentioned is with the Chicago Bears, who have a talented rookie in Caleb Williams and ample talent elsewhere but also have a long history of failing to develop potential-laden quarterbacks.
