The award-winning musical Hamilton scheduled for tonight (Tuesday) at the Bord Gáis Theatre has been cancelled due to “cast illness”, the Theatre has confirmed.
It comes as the tickets for the show sold out in Spring last year, with plenty of people learning the news less than two hours before the show was due to start.
It marks the first time the multi-award-winning show is performed in Dublin.
The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre has advised customers that the Hamilton performance scheduled for 7.30pm tonight has been cancelled due to cast illness.
In a statement released on social media, it said they “understand the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause”.
However, all customers who were due to see the performance tonight will receive an automatic refund.
“We want to assure you that every effort was made to proceed with the performance as planned,” a Bord Gáis spokesperson said.
“Unfortunately, this situation is unavoidable, and the decision to cancel has been made with great difficulty.
“We sincerely apologise and we thank our customers for their patience as we try to resolve all queries,” they added.
The musical currently plays a nine-week season from September 17 until November 16.
The customers who missed out on the performance tonight might be able to see it on another date with priority booking before the end of the run.
“We will endeavour to find an alternative performance that we can add to the performance schedule before the end of the run, and should we be able to do so we will inform you as soon as possible to allow for priority booking,” they said.
