Lucky Jack, as some might call him, really landed on his feet. Imagine delivering your first budget as Finance Minister with more money to give away than any of your predecessors. In his speech, Jack Chambers talked about billions like it was all coming from a money tree out the back garden.
In a way, it is – the Apple tree. The Government has probably been the luckiest in the history of the State. The financial projections for this year and next lay bare just how fortunate the Coalition has been.
