Dragon Ball DAIMA has been a very significant hit thus far, with several fans praising the animation, word-building, and story-focused approach. With DAIMA‘s premiere, Toei carries forward Toriyama’s lasting legacy, ensuring it lives on forever.
Akira Toriyama’s swan song, Dragon Ball DAIMA, has been diving deep into the franchise’s lore. Episode 7 delivered another satisfying chapter in the 40th-anniversary series by the late Toriyama. Goku and the Z Fighters are set to face their next formidable opponents, the Tamagami. Though only briefly introduced, these powerful warriors from the Demon Realm promise to give Goku and Vegeta their toughest challenge yet.
The Tamagamis: Dragon Ball DAIMA‘s Strongest Warriors from the Demon Realm
DAIMA debuted to an amazing reception, marking a thrilling new era for the Dragon Ball universe and drawing fans back into the action. The film follows the story of Goku in the nebulous Demon Realm before he and the rest of Dragon Ball’s cast find themselves transformed into mini-kid versions of themselves.
DAIMA Episode 1 confirms the series’ new place in the overall Dragon Ball timeline before Beerus and Whis’ arrival during the Battle of Gods arc. Toei Animation has confirmed that DAIMA is 100% canon and connects to Dragon Ball Super since Universe 7 was referenced early on.
Unlike its predecessors, Dragon Ball DAIMA is not set on Earth, introducing fans to many new characters from the Demon Realm, and adding a fresh twist to the series.
Episode 7 shed some much-needed light on the societal structures of the Demon Realm, such as the cruel reason for Panzy’s mysterious collar and those responsible for its creation.
If Dabura couldn’t even beat these Tamagami’s we could be looking at a Super Saiyan 2 Gohan (Cell Saga) or potentially a Majin Buu level threat here.#DAIMA pic.twitter.com/1VmPtLwnYq

In the latest episode, before Mini Goku challenged the Tamagami guarding the three-star Demon Realm Dragon Ball, Shin removed Panzy’s collar to prevent the Gendarmerie from tracking them, setting the stage for an epic battle ahead.
With Vegeta, Piccolo, and Bulma tied up in the current situation, Goku may have to face his next big challenge, the Tamagami, on his own. The Tamagami may not look as intimidating as the classic DBZ villains, but they possess incredible power, even surpassing foes that the former King Dabura couldn’t overcome.
The Tamagami are a trio of powerful entities created by Neva to act as protectors of the Demon Realm Dragon Balls. Because of their strength, no one in the Demon Realm would be able to have a wish granted for a long time.
The latest episode reveals that the Tamagami are the most powerful warriors in the Demon Realm, even surpassing the strength of the Demon King Dabura.
Since Goku and Vegeta managed to defeat Majin Buu back in DBZ, it’s clear that Goku has the strength to take on the Tamagami. However, being reverted to his child form makes it incredibly challenging for him to put up a strong fight alone. Interestingly, Goku’s best chance to overcome these challenges lies in unlocking the power of the SSJ4 transformation.
Why Dragon Ball DAIMA May Feature Goku’s SSJ4
Though Dragon Ball GT might not be as renowned as DBZ or DBS, the series is famous for featuring the iconic SSJ4 transformation and thrilling antagonists. Amid the DB GT and DAIMA‘s similarities, fans are curious if they could see Toei reviving the iconic SSJ4 transformation which got wasted in DB GT because of the show’s harsh critics.
DAIMA presents the perfect opportunity to honor the legendary mangaka’s contributions. While there’s been no official confirmation, following the story premise, the return of SSJ4 transformation is highly likely.
With SSJ3 being Goku’s most powerful transformation, it would make sense to reintroduce SSJ4 if he wants to beat powerful new enemies like Neva’s Tamagami’s in the Demon Realm.
DAIMA is all about celebrating the 40-year legacy of Dragon Ball, which includes reintroducing iconic elements from the series, such as Goku’s Power Pole. Thus, giving Goku SSJ4 would be an exciting way for DAIMA to commemorate all of Dragon Ball‘s rich history.
Dragon Ball Super is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
