The New York Jets went into this season with Super Bowl aspirations with Aaron Rodgers slated to return from his torn Achilles at quarterback.

However, things have gone very wrong in 2024, and the team is now facing a complete rebuild.

It’s tough to imagine things worsening for this franchise over the past year.

But general manager Joe Douglas was fired just weeks after the team fired head coach Robert Saleh.

According to a recent report, Douglas feels “relief” to no longer be running the Jets.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic released an article that said that one executive close to Douglas said he is relieved to no longer be working under owner Woody Johnson.

The executive also said that Douglas went fishing at the Jersey Shore immediately after getting fired and that “It’s the happiest he sounded in a long time.”

Douglas had been Jets general manager since 2019, but he failed to end their long playoff drought, which is about to extend to 14 years.

It is already the longest current streak in the four major sports.

The next domino to fall could be Rodgers, as Russini also pointed out in her article that he wants to play in 2025 but is also fed up with Johnson and would be happy to be elsewhere next season.

It has been a rough year for Jets fans, and this latest report certainly didn’t help.
