Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles show their pride as new jumper designs revealed

Fremantle have unveiled their jumper design for the upcoming AFLW pride round with the theme of this year’s kit centred around creating connections.

This is the fourth year the Dockers have created a pride jumper, designed by former Fremantle graphic designer Anna Palma in conduction with Freo’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee (DE&I).

It sees the famous Fremantle anchor brought to life through a colourful dot matrix with each line and point representing growing connections within the community.

Purple Hands Foundation program coordinator, Amber Vandam, said the message about what pride means was clear.

“While Pride primarily represents the LGBTQIA+ community, it also requires the entire community to unite to make acceptance, equality, and love a reality,” Vandam said.

“This is where the lines of connection came to life – like a web, or a puzzle of everyone coming together, with all points reaching one another somewhere along the line.

“The DE&I members all spoke about how important the anchor is to them. It is what ties us together, no matter who we are – one Club, united by the anchor.

“We all said that the Club was a place where we felt welcomed, loved, and appreciated, and where our differences were celebrated.”

Fremantle will debut their new jumper against their round seven home clash against Carlton on October 12.

It comes after West Coast also revealed their pride jumper which will be worn in this weekend’s home clash against Port Adelaide and when they face Hawthorn in round seven.

Their design features the traditional Eagle which is then flanked by rainbow coloured feathers on either side and received a ringing endorsement from star Ella Roberts.

“I absolutely love this year’s Pride guernsey,” Roberts said.

“I think the design looks great, I love the use of the feathers and I absolutely can’t wait to run out in it in rounds six and seven.”

Vice-captain Bella Lewis says Pride round is an important opportunity for everyone to come together.”
