Stephen King shares his praise for the upcoming horror series Teacup, comparing it to Lost and the MGM+ series From. Debuting in just a matter of weeks, the Teacup trailer previewed the James Wan-produced show that teases a terrifying mystery. Although the story seems to begin on a sunny note, it’s not too long before the sinister twists begin to cut through the perfect exterior.
Ahead of Teacup‘s debut on Peacock, with the first two episodes releasing on October 10, King has posted a glowing endorsement of the series on X/Twitter. The legendary author has shared his support for various series, being one of the early supporters of From which has since become a relatively breakout hit. King calls the show “strange, creepy, claustrophobic, and scary”, comparing it to the seminal mystery drama Lost and From as well.
What To Know About Teacup
It’s Based On A Best-Selling Novel
The official synopsis for Teacup does not reveal too much about the Peacock series. It mentions a group of people having to come together to survive, echoing the plots of Lost and From. But it is inspired by the 1988 novel Stringer from author Robert McCammon. The book follows a creature, described as an evil beyond comprehension. The synopsis reads “A disparate group of people in rural Georgia must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.”
The series is led by The Handmaid’s Tale star Yvonne Strahovski and Grey’s Anatomy actor Scott Speedman, with the cast also including Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre and Luciano Leroux. Behind the camera, Yellowstone and Chicago Fire writer Ian McCulloch serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett for Atomic Monster, in addition to Francisca X. Hu and Kevin Tancharoen for Universal’s UCP.

It’s Perfect For Halloween
The best thing that Teacup has going for it as of now is that it’s fairly bite-sized. Teacup consists of eight half-hour episodes, with two episodes released weekly and the finale dropping on Halloween. At just two episodes a week, with each being roughly 30 minutes, audiences should be able to decide fairly quickly if the show is one they’d like to sample. But given the involvement of Wan, who has made a name for himself in horror, and King’s endorsement, it might be the perfect horror series.
