Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck remained on friendly terms after finalizing their divorce in 2018. They have three kids together: Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel Affleck, 12. Jennifer Lopez’s twins, Max and Emme Muniz, 16, also reportedly got along well with Ben and Garner’s children. Lopez and Garner didn’t often speak about each other in the media. However, it’s believed that they both loved that their kids formed bonds when Lopez and Ben tied the knot in 2022.
Now that Lopez and Ben split, a source told DailyMail.com that Garner no longer wants any communication with Lopez unless it’s about her children.
“Jen no longer wishes to have communication with J.Lo unless it is do with the kids,” the source said. Previous reports suggested Garner helped Ben navigate his marriage to Lopez, which now appears to be a mistake.
“Her friends feel she shouldn’t have allowed herself to get so involved in helping J.Lo to fix her marriage to Ben,” the source continued. “Especially considering Jen felt pitted against J.Lo at times during their own marriage. Jen is too nice and truly wanted to help, so she tried.”
The insider added that Garner feels “loyalty” to Ben, but she knows her kids love Lopez. “But Jen would never badmouth her or speak negatively about her,” they stated. “Everyone knows that if J.Lo wanted to spend time with her children aside from Violet, it would have to go through Jen.”

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s kids spent ample time with Jennifer Lopez for the past two years. And Violet Affleck and Lopez formed a special bond. They were spotted shopping together in the Hamptons over the summer of 2024. In November 2024, Lopez’s sister, Lynda, posted a selfie with Violet at Yale. This allegedly “confused” Ben and Garner.
“Violet has a strong attachment to J.Lo and her family,” a source told DailyMail.com regarding Lopez’s sister’s visit. “It’s quite confusing to Ben and Jen [Garner] because they do not understand why Violet is so adamant on keeping her close.”
The insider added that Violet “looks up” to Lopez. Ben allegedly wasn’t aware of the meetup until the photo was posted for all to see.
“The first time Ben saw this photo was online,” the insider continued. “He wasn’t aware that Lynda was visiting. But Violet is an adult, and she is allowed to do as she pleases and spend time with who she wants to.”

While Jennifer Garner allegedly wants nothing to do with Lopez, the same can’t be said for Violet Affleck. Another source previously told DailyMail.com that Violet “is not going to stop talking” to Lopez just because of the divorce.
“Violet does wish her dad Ben would stay with J.Lo,” the source alleged. “She wasn’t living in their house and did not see the extent of the breakdown, but she got extremely close to J.Lo over the past couple of years, and it broke her heart when they split.”
“Ben is neither bothered or unbothered by Violet’s closeness with J.Lo, as Violet is an adult and can have relationships with anyone she chooses,” the insider added.
