Thanks, I Hate It
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist went their separate ways after just three months of marriage, leading to fan speculation. Now Theresa is setting the record straight.
Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner shocked the world in April 2024 when they announced their split—the couple, who met on The Golden Bachelor, married in a televised ceremony in January 2024. The three-month marriage was one of the shortest in Bachelor Nation history. While the former couple has been mostly quiet since the split, Theresa Nist is finally speaking out. In a podcast appearance, she revealed Gerry Turner is the one who “flipped the script” on their planned life together.
Theresa Nist says Gerry Turner changed the plan
Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner’s short-lived marriage might have lasted longer if he hadn’t changed the plan after the nuptials. Nist recently appeared on Almost Famous and opened up about the end of her marriage and what caused the golden couple to part ways. While the divorce had multiple reasons, their inability to agree on a home base was one of the main ones.
Nist set the record straight regarding rumors that she was unwilling to give up her job and move. Nist said that she was more than happy to establish a marital home in South Carolina, as she and Turner discussed before tying the knot. However, she was unwilling to sell her New Jersey residence until they found a house to live in together.
She went on to say that Turner was the one who was against finding a house to buy together. She revealed that Turner proposed switching states, with the couple traveling between New Jersey and Indiana every six weeks. She said she was against the idea entirely.
Susan Noles told a different story
Interestingly enough, Nist is telling a much different story than Turner told, and a different story than Susan Noles, another competitor on The Golden Bachelor season 1, backed. During a podcast appearance following the end of Nist and Turner’s marriage, Noles went to bat for Turner.
She pinned the trouble on Nist in an effort to defend Turner. Noles claimed Nist was the one who reneged on the plan the couple had established before tying the knot. Noles suggested Nist’s disinterest in giving up her career ultimately led to resentment and the end of the marriage. Nist never commented on Noles’ thoughts.
