In ‘Spare,’ the Duke of Sussex claimed he was “sacrificed” on his stepmother’s “PR altar.” But Camilla’s friend says Prince Harry was actually sacrificed to generate good PR for his father.
Ever since Prince Harry released his memoir Spare, it’s been up for debate how much of what the duke revealed about his family is true. The reason for that is because while many want to believe that the book is an honest take of Harry’s life behind Palace walls others, know there are more sides to the story and we’ll never hear the rest of the royal family‘s side.
But now, there are some backing up what the prince said about being “sacrificed” so other royals could improve their own reputations. Here’s more on that and what one of Queen Camilla’s (formerly known as Camilla Parker Bowles) closest friends admitted about that.

In his book, Prince Harry didn’t hold back when he discussed his father’s wife and labeled his stepmother a “villain.”
During his promotional tour for Spare, the Duke of Sussex described Camilla as “dangerous” and in a 60 Minutes interview, Harry doubled down and declared his stepmom “dangerous because of the connections that she was forging within the British press … and with her, on the way to being queen consort, there was gonna be people or bodies left in the street because of that.”
In one passage of his book the prince wrote: “I had complex feelings about gaining a stepparent, who I thought had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar.”
Queen Camilla’s friend, others say Harry was really ‘sacrificed’ to give his father good PR
A number of royal experts agreed that Harry was “sacrificed’ at a time when both King Charles and Camilla needed some good PR as their reputations were at an all-time low following Princess Diana’s death. According to Express, the story about Prince Harry’s drug use when he was a teenager was made public in order to help Charles’ reputation.
Journalist Charles Rae explained: “Any royal involved in illegal activities is a great story, the only problem with this was, this was spin. This had not happened as they said. What had happened was that Harry had gone to this drugs rehabilitation place two or three weeks beforehand. It was spun then to try and show people that ‘don’t worry, dad’s taken care of it. He’s taken him to a drugs rehabilitation unit to show him the evils of his ways.’”
Petronella Wyatt, a close friend of Queen Camilla’s, acknowledged that Harry was “sacrificed” as he said but agreed that it was more for his father’s reputation saying: “I think Charles was slightly distracted at the time. I think he would probably feel now he shouldn’t have allowed that to appear It does look like a son being sacrificed to make his father look better.”
