It’s not always easy to find out which movies hit theaters each week, especially after the Hollywood strikes led to so many release date changes. With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes resolved and fall blockbusters rolling in, October is filled with both big-budget flicks and new indie releases.
Premiering Oct. 4 is Todd Phillips’ “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which follows Arthur Fleck who, as he awaits trial for his crimes as the Joker, finds the love of his life and discovers the music hidden inside him. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener.

Also on Friday, “White Bird” arrives in theaters. Starring Ariella Glaser, Orlando Schwerdt, Gillian Anderson and Helen Mirren, the wartime drama follows a troubled young boy who is deeply touched by his grandmother’s stories of escaping Nazi-occupied France during World War II.
Two films getting limited releases this week are “Little Bites,” a horror about a young widow who allows a monster to slowly eat her alive to save her daughter, and “Daaaaaali!,” a comedy about a French journalist making a documentary about the legendary surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. Keep an eye out for “Saturday Night” and “Terrifier 3,” which both release nationwide next week.
