TFT has created its “biggest, coolest, and strongest” units yet for Set 13

Teamfight Tactics – like anything Riot Games-related right now – is experiencing Arcane-mania at the moment. Set 13 is inspired by the hit show, and soon it’ll be getting a whole lot wilder. That’s because three new TFT champions are on their way to Into the Arcane, and they may just be three of the most powerful and broken champions the game has ever seen.

With all of Arcane Season 2 now up on Netflix (note that there may be some spoilers ahead if you’re yet to watch the whole series) Teamfight Tactics is looking to incorporate more of the series’ amazing characters into the autobattler. A trio of champions will be heading to TFT – players will already be familiar with Warwick and Viktor, while Mel joins as an all-new character.

However, these three champions will be the “biggest, coolest, and strongest units TFT has ever seen,” according to game designer Tim Jiang. Coming in as super strong six-costs, Warwick, Viktor, and Mel are overpowered by design, with towering statures and incredible visual effects to make sure they’re immensely strong abilities are effectively portrayed on the board. As well as being remarkably powerful, they will be remarkably rare too.

“Players are probably not going to see them until like the middle of stage five and more likely on stage six,” Jiang says in a new Dev Drop video. “They’re not going to be in every game, you’re not going to see one every game, but when you do they should be these huge ‘wow’ moments.”

“You’ll notice when you read all of their abilities that they all have a hook that is good when they’re at zero items, and they all kinda transform when they’re at three items, “ Jiang adds.

Lead designer Shawn Elizabeth Main has also given a brief overview of what each champion will be bringing to the Into the Arcane set. Warwick roams the board slashing away and executing enemies, but as soon as a few have died, he enters a “frenzied state” that makes him unstoppable and gives him increased damage. Viktor steps back from the fight to fire his ranged death ray at enemy combatants and has the ability to stun the entire board, suspending everyone in the air – he “will make everyone a believer, whether they like it or not.” Finally, Mel dashes around the board “reducing damage to allies” and storing up damage of her own that she can unleash in a huge attack. She also has the ability to protect your tactician from death, which is pretty wild.

The Viktor, Warwick, and Mel six-costs will arrive in TFT patch 14.24 on Wednesday, December 11, but they will be up on the PBE before then.
