All of their family names are metals, including Scopper Gaban which has Copper cleverly hidden in it. This implies he was a big figure in the crew and his actions were possibly impactful during the Great Pirate Era. He was able to take on Kozuki Oden, one of the strongest samurai, and even led the battle against the Whitebeard Pirates alongside Silvers Rayleigh. Moreover, the man knows the truth about the Void Century.
Now that we know his strength and knowledge are unmatched and vital to finding the One Piece, it’s possible that Kid could’ve been talking about him. However, a man like Gaban probably wouldn’t help Kid. In the storyline, three Roger Pirates have helped the Straw Hat Pirates. At the beginning, it was Shanks. When entering the Grand Line, it was Crocus. At the halfway point, it was Silvers Rayleigh. Many fans believe Scopper Gaban is waiting at the last Road Poneglyph, which went missing, guarding it for the “right person,” which could be Luffy.
A mysterious man was waiting for Luffy on the shores of Elbaf in chapter 1124. The silhouette gives no clue about who it could be but Gaban fits the bill. While others might fit the description of “the man marked by flames” better than Gaban, the older pirate might also have scars we don’t know about.

“The man marked by flames” can certainly be anyone, even someone we wouldn’t expect, but this theory does make sense for the overall story. It’s still inevitable for Eiichiro Oda to give us a peak at Gaban’s whereabouts right now and the mysterious man waiting at Elbaf ignites hope we will finally meet him.
