There is no stopping Brad Pitt from taking on more dangerous stunts in films despite his age, and this time, he was so dedicated he reportedly passed out while on the set of Joseph Kosinski’s F1. Onlookers were stunned to see the actor lying on a padded mat after what seemed like a collision scene.
Pitt plays Sonny Hayes in the movie, a former racer who comes out of retirement to mentor and team up with a younger driver. In the footage, the actor was seen having difficulty walking before crashing down on the mat.

There’s a reason why Brad Pitt remains one of the most successful actors in Hollywood. He’s not afraid to take on challenges such as participating in a very dangerous sport for the sake of art. Many fans were shocked after seeing the actor seemingly lying unconscious on the ground, but there’s really nothing to worry about.

The fainting stunt is one of the production’s ways of teasing the audience about what they could expect from F1. APX GP, the fictional team in the movie, went all the way to release a mock statement via Daily Mail about Sonny Hayes’ condition to lift the hype. “During qualifying, Sonny sustained a significant impact requiring immediate medical evaluation,” it read.
Pitt is also one of the producers of the movie along with real-life Formula One star Lewis Hamilton. It’s no longer a surprise that the production is a collaboration with the Formula One community, so all F1 teams and their drivers are authentic.
“Incidents of this magnitude are always taken seriously, and Sonny’s health remains our top priority,” the statement continued and later noted that Sonny won’t be participating in tomorrow’s race unless he has fully recovered.
Joseph Kosinski and Hamilton have been working hand in hand to ensure the authenticity of the film, and the latter’s contributions, while invaluable, were unfortunately costly.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer argued that there were times they did not want to know more about Hamilton’s suggestions because it only increased their expenses. “Sometimes we do not like to hear some of the things he says, because it costs us more money to fix things,” he told Racing News 365. In the end, he is happy for what Hamilton brings to the project and Bruckheimer makes sure to make the necessary adjustments.
Joseph Kosinski Comments on Filming F1
Director Joseph Kosinski previously spoke with Deadline and revealed how they actually shoot F1. There was so much pressure because they were doing it during real race events with live audience watching.
We’re shooting at the actual Grands Prix. There are certain aspects of this film where we’re working in very, very tight windows, shooting on the track, between practice and qualifying sessions, in front of hundreds of thousands of people.
F1 is expected to be one of the most highly anticipated summer movies of next year. While Puck’s Matthew Belloni revealed the budget to be around $300 million, producer Jerry Bruckheimer refuted the claim and said it’s lower than what was reported.
