Drake’s Biggest Mistake in Beef With Kendrick Lamar Was Calling Him a “Woman Beater” While Name Dropping Chris Brown Despite His Past With Rihanna

That’s the problem with competition. It makes people forget what they really want. Those words could easily be the tagline for the ongoing rap feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. It’s the classic tale of two titans—one a lyrical mastermind, the other a hit-making machine—whose rivalry has been simmering since the early 2010s. But the question everyone’s asking: Is this just a friendly competition, or is there something more beneath the surface?

Let’s face it, when it comes to the rap game, these two names always come up. Both Lamar and Drake have taken their fair share of digs at each other over the years, and yet—despite the beef—they continue to thrive. So, what gives?

Behind the scenes, the media and fans were reading between the lines, spotting what appeared to be subtle disses and passive-aggressive comments from both parties.

Drake Called Kendrick Lamar a ‘Woman Beater’?

In the world of rap, you can’t talk about the heavyweights without mentioning two names: Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Like any good rivalry, this one didn’t start with animosity. In fact, it started with a collaboration.

Anyway, Drake recently decided to escalate things with The Heart Part 6. In this song, he takes aim at Lamar, refuting some of the latter’s previous claims and doubling down on allegations made in his 2023 track Family Matters. The biggest bombshell? Drake calls Lamar a “woman beater”,  referencing the time the latter rapped about people still listening to convicted s*x trafficker R. Kelly.

This accusation escalates their ongoing beef and sparks intense backlash from fans, who question the fairness of the claim.

Drake’s line was loaded

I don’t wanna fight with a woman beater, it feeds your nature / If you still bumping R. Kelly, you can thank the savior.

On another diss track, Family Matters, where he criticizes Lamar for alleged domestic abuse, Drake gives a shout-out to none other than Chris Brown, who has a notorious history of violence, including the infamous assault on Rihanna in 2009. Fans are shaking their heads, questioning how Drake can slam Lamar for his alleged actions while praising someone like Brown.

Take a closer look at Family Matters:

You know who really bang a set? My n*gga YG
You know who really bang a set? My n*gga Chuck T
You know who even bang a set out there is CB
And, n*gga, Cole losin’ sleep on this, it ain’t me.

Lamar’s personal life, especially his relationship with his high school sweetheart, Whitney Alford, is a relatively private affair. They have been together for years, and they are parents to two kids. Kendrick’s supporters view him as a devoted family man and role model, so they’re understandably outraged by Drake’s words.

How the hell did Drake think its a good idea to accuse Kendrick of being a wife beater but then show love to Chris Brown in the same song?

In the end, the situation feels like a mess, and fans are quick to call out the hypocrisy.

Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar: From Friends to Foes?

In Family Matters, Drake accuses Lamar of domestic violence and makes bold allegations about Lamar’s family life.

Remember the days when J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake were seen as the “big three” in rap? But enter First Person Shooter by J. Cole, which not only celebrated the three rappers as the titans of rap but also made them seem like a force that could do no wrong.

That is, until Lamar fired the first shot at Cole and Drake in his own sneaky way. On the track Like That with Metro Boomin and Future, Lamar dropped a verse that wasn’t even credited, yet it was loaded with some serious shade.

Now, anyone who knows Drake knows he doesn’t stay quiet for long, especially when it comes to defending his turf. Enter his diss track Push Ups, where he didn’t hold back.

He took aim at Lamar with vengeance. But Lamar didn’t just respond with more bars—he came in with a master class in lyrical warfare. His track Euphoria hit back, calling Drake a “pathetic master manipulator” and a “scam artist”. Ouch!

Since then, the simmering tension between the two has finally boiled over.
