Kathleen Kennedy Must Greenlight a Solo Series on 1 Prequel Trilogy Star Wars Villain With Godlike Fan Following

The Star Wars franchise is filled with eccentric characters with multiple shades who can arguably anchor their own stories. The space opera saga launched by George Lucas has seen several eras, anchored by different villains. However, one villain manages to stand out even after decades and continues to enjoy a strong fan following.

The villain in question is none other than General Grievous, who was first introduced during the prequel trilogy. Despite having a short screen time, Grievous emerged as a fan favorite. As a result, it might not be a bad bet that the character will receive his own solo spin-off series, and Kathleen Kennedy should listen to what the fans have to say.

Star Wars Villain General Grievous Proves He Has a Godlike Fan Following

General Grievous was first introduced in the 2003 animated Clone Wars series, which has since been removed from the canon. The character made his live-action debut in Revenge of the Sith and quickly emerged as a fan favorite because of his unique design.

On Reddit, fans continue to sing the praises of General Grievous despite his demise in his very first live-action appearance. However, the character’s story was further elaborated in The Clone Wars animated series, supervised by franchise creator George Lucas.

Here’s what fans had to say about their love for the prequel-era villain on the Star Wars subreddit.

As the comments suggest, fans of the space opera saga love the character despite him being a villain and having very little screen time in the movies.

Fans stated they were impressed with the character’s design, with the cyborg Jedi killer adding a new dimension to the franchise’s villains. Moreover, the character not having any Force abilities added a layer of tragedy to him, which was further explored in his backstory. Hence, it is no surprise that General Grievous has a strong fan following.

Kathleen Kennedy Needs to Greenlight a General Grievous Solo Series

The Star Wars franchise is rapidly expanding with several solo projects focusing on fan-favorite characters from the Skywalker Saga. Characters like Andor have already proved that if done the right way, there is potential for the franchise to deliver a hit with a beloved character.

Furthermore, the fan appreciation for General Grievous even decades after the prequel trilogy proves that the character is ripe with storytelling potential. The powerful Kaleesh cyborg who mastered all forms of lightsaber combat has a very tragic story behind his transformation into the diabolical Jedi killer.

Although Grievous’ backstory was explored in the Legends stories, it has been left ambiguous in the current canon. As a result, a solo series based on the character could canonize some elements from the Legends while building upon what is already known about his past. Hence, Kathleen Kennedy needs to listen to the fans for once and greenlight a Grievous solo series.

The Star Wars movies and TV shows are streaming on Disney+.
