Married at First Sight viewers were stunned as Richelle let rip at Orson for hanging onto his hurt at being cheated on.
The pair have been matched up in Channel 4’s social experiment, which sees singles being matched by experts and meeting at the altar to tie the knot. They haven’t had the smoothest of rides so far, with Richelle checking out of their honeymoon before returning later to try again.
And things went from bad to worse in the latest episode, as Richelle took her husband to task for mentioning that an ex was unfaithful to him. Viewers were unimpressed, questioning why Richelle had such an issue with Orson opening up and urging him to “run”.
What, how and why?
Monday’s episode (7 October) saw the couple having a heated conversation in which Richelle, 48, suggested that Orson was in it for the fame, after hearing that he had done some modelling and acting. Talk later turned to the fact that on their first date he had mentioned that he had been cheated on five years ago.
Richelle repeatedly quizzed Orson about why he was still mentioning it after five years, and also asked what his friends would think. “What do you think your boys are going to say when you are sitting on TV crying about being cheated on five years ago?” she asked.
He tried to defend himself but Richelle stormed: “You just chat so much s***.”
“I’m too old for this nonsense,” she said, walking out of the apartment.
Orson admitted he was “shocked” after the outburst, and viewers felt the same. Many posted messages on social media saying they couldn’t understand why Richelle was so annoyed.
What did viewers say?
One posted on X: “Storyline? Wth is Richelle angry about? She’s not making any sense.”
Another said: “So, she said she didn’t wanna hear about his past relationships. He doesn’t mention it, she keeps bringing it up and this is his fault how? What exactly is she mad about cause I’m confused.”
“I’m so confused, what did Orson do?” asked someone else. “Richelle has created a made storyline in her head.”
“For those who can’t recall Olson brought up his failed relationship 5 years ago, which broke his heart. and Richelle is apparently punishing him for mentioning it,” said another.
Others thought Richelle was picking a fight because she was looking to quit the marriage. “Richelle just looking for a way out of this that (she thinks) doesn’t make her look like the bad guy,” said one.
Somebody else commented: “Richelle is desperately trying to look for an issue, which makes me question how genuine she is. Being cheated on in the past will shape future relationships, whether it was 5 months or years. ALL lived experience shapes us.”
Some just wanted Orson to leave. One posted: “Richelle is making way too much of the cheated on conversation. Get over it. Orson… I hope you ran.”
Another urged: “Orson, run. As fast as you can.”
