Two women have died in separate apparent drownings off the coast of north Dublin within the space of 24 hours.
In the latest tragedy the body of a woman was discovered in the sea at Clontarf early this morning.
Gardaí attended the scene at around 7am and the woman’s body was removed in the area around where Vernon Avenue meets the coastal Clontarf Road.
A post mortem is due to take place and a garda spokeswoman said enquiries are ongoing.

Yesterday, the body of a woman in her 60s, was taken from the water off Portmarnock after she was reported to have got into difficulty while swimming.
Emergency services were alerted to a woman encountering difficulties while swimming off Portmarnock at about 1.30pm.
The RNLI rescue helicopter 116 and Howth coastguard arrived at the scene and located the woman shortly after 3pm.
The woman was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Emergency services were alerted shortly after 3pm this afternoon, Monday, 7th October 2024, when a woman in her 60s was found unresponsive in the water at Portmarnock Strand by the Coast Guard.
“She was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
“Gardaí were notified and the Coroner has since been informed.”
A post-mortem examination was due to take place and foul play is not suspected.
