Pat Spillane: Trip to Boston reminded me how the GAA is the glue that holds our communities together

Clubs like the Shannon Blues in Boston keep Gaelic games alive on a global scale

I’m just back from one of those trips that made me very proud to be a GAA man.

I was a guest at the 50th anniversary dinner dance of Shannon Blues GAA club in Boston. A life-affirming evening with 350 people at a dinner dance. Think about that number, many clubs in Ireland don’t even have a dinner dance anymore, never mind attract a crowd of that size.
