The chief suspect in the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann has been cleared by a German court of unrelated sex offences, including the rape of an Irish tour guide in Portugal 20 years ago.
The Braunschweig state court acquitted 47-year-old German national Christian Brueckner of three counts of rape and two of sexual abuse.
