News of an Israeli tank firing directly at a watchtower in the Unifil peacekeeping force’s headquarters at Naquora, which is on the Lebanese-Israeli border, has raised fears of an escalation of Israel’s desire to intimidate peacekeepers into evacuating the south Lebanon region.
Two peacekeepers were injured following the collapse of the tower. Two other United Nations positions were fired on in other parts of the Unifil area of operations.
