Stay Well: Do naps really boost brain health and productivity? And how long should they be?

Just as lunch was once for wimps, we have traditionally regarded naps as a pursuit for babies, oldies and lazies – Margaret Thatcher famously boasted about only needing fours hours sleep a night, before going on to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

“The link between lack of sleep and neurodegenerative disease is strong,” says Professor Annie Curtis, circadian rhythms expert at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.
