Harry Maguire has shared a new message ahead of his injury return for Manchester United.

Maguire has been on the side-lines with a muscular injury ever since being withdrawn at half-time against Aston Villa in the goalless draw at the start of October. The centre-back has subsequently missed the last six matches in all competitions with that injury after confirming that he would be unavailable for “a few weeks”.

United will face Leicester City on Sunday in their final Premier League match before the November international break. Maguire will be unavailable to face his former club, but has posted an update as he continues his recovery from the problem – with a return date edging closer.

On his Instagram story, Maguire posted a photo of himself on the exercise bike, at Carrington, alongside United teammate Toby Collyer, who is also recovering from an injury. The post was accompanied by two captions, with the first saying “rehab partner” in a message to Collyer.

Maguire also wrote another message hinting he could be nearing a return to action from the injury. The England international simply wrote: “Back soon,” accompanied by a love heart emoji.

Sunday’s clash against Leicester will be the final match of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s reign as interim manager. Ruben Amorim will formally take charge as the club’s new head coach on Monday, with his first fixture on November 24 away at newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

Maguire will be out to return to action for United after their upcoming international break, where he will also be looking to impress Amorim as the new regime sweeps in at Carrington. The 31-year-old will continue his recovery during the two-week hiatus, with Amorim expected to provide an update on his fitness in the days leading up to the clash against Ipswich later this month.
