Richard Curran: The Saudi fund behind Arnotts and Ronaldo is big on money – but short on detail

It should be a bit of stretch to find what Cristiano Ronaldo, Newcastle FC, golfer ­Bryson DeChambeau, jet lessor AviLease and the Arnotts winter sale all have in common.

But they are now all backed by the sovereign investment fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, known as the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
