And so, we can add Anthony Barry to the list of influential figures within the English national team set-up that used Ireland as a stepping stone towards their destination.
The announcement of Barry as the number two to Thomas Tuchel, an unsurprising development given the relationship they forged at Chelsea and extended at Bayern Munich, means we have another major Irish managerial candidate happier as a supporting cast member over the water.
