Former One Direction singer Liam Payne died outside a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, local newspaper La Nacion reported on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old British musician was found dead after falling from the hotel’s third floor, it said, citing emergency services.
One Direction became one of the biggest pop groups in the world with five albums and four world tours after being put together by Simon Cowell on the X-Factor in 2010.
The band went on indefinite hiatus after Zayn Malik announced his departure in 2015.
Wolverhampton-born Payne dated former Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole after the band broke up and they had a son born in 2017, but he had been in a relationship with influencer Kate Cassidy since 2022.
