Question: My girlfriend and I took a break from our relationship earlier this year. We were having loads of arguments that we couldn’t resolve and we both had family stuff going on that was contributing to the rows. We agreed to take a break to deal with our stuff. We wanted to understand if the problem was our relationship or the stress we were experiencing outside the relationship. The week we took the break, I went on a mad night out and slept with someone. It was very much a one-night stand and there was no communication afterwards. My girlfriend and I are now back together and things are much better between us. She hasn’t asked me if I was with someone else and I haven’t asked her. But I’m thinking, if I was, then maybe she was too. We didn’t set any boundaries about seeing other people when we took the break. On reflection, we probably should have. My question is whether I should tell her that I slept with someone. I don’t want to jeopardise what we have now. And if I’m being totally honest, I don’t want to hear that she slept with someone as well. I don’t think we could come back from that
