For years, NBA fans, pundits, and even current and former players have debated who is the greatest player of all time.
Most old-school fans will always talk about Michael Jordan, while the younger generation tends to lean towards LeBron James.
Some also bring Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, or Kobe Bryant to the table, but most people agree that the truth might lie between one of those two.
With that in mind, a fan asked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver his thoughts on the matter (via NBA Central).

Silver didn’t hesitate to side with Jordan on this one, urging the fans not to let LeBron James know his choice.
Truth be told, this speaks volumes.
Having the main authority of the ultimate basketball tournament on Earth gives you the nod, which might be a cementing argument in Jordan’s favor.
Silver could’ve gone with LeBron to keep driving his brand, especially with him breaking records and making history with almost every performance this season.
Instead, he chose to go with the player who, according to basketball historians, may have saved the NBA.
Jordan was a star before Silver joined the league, but his aura and legendary status continue to march strong and be felt around the league.
Granted, perhaps he also did this to avoid siding with an active player and have the fans complaining about potential favoritism or whatnot.
Whatever the case, you can’t go wrong with whoever you choose, but Silver will never be able to escape this clip.
