Gardaí have issued a statement asking crowds gathered on O’Connell Street to disperse while some Luas services through the city centre have been delayed.
Rumours had spread online that a Halloween parade was set to take place through Dublin city centre. However, no such parade is planned.
“Please be advised that contrary to information being circulated online, no Halloween parade is scheduled to take place in Dublin City Centre this evening or tonight,” a post on X reads.
“All those gathered on O’Connell Street in expectation of such a parade are asked to disperse safely. Thank you.”
Luas red line services from Smithfield to The Point and green line services from St Stephen’s Green to Dominick were out of operation earlier this evening but have since resumed with delays.
“Full Red and Green Line Line services have resumed with delays while we regulate service. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” a spokesperson said.

Gardaí have also advised anyone on O’Connell Street or in nearby areas they are on the scene and available to help throughout the night: “Should you need our help or assistance, we are out on the beat along O’Connell Street and surrounding areas throughout this evening and tonight – please do not hesitate to stop and speak with us.”
In previous years, Galway-based theatre company Macnas brought its yearly Halloween parade to Dublin city centre but there were no plans announced by the company for a parade in the capital this year.
