Why a Commentator Says They Were ‘Nauseous’ With What Meghan Markle Decided to Wear During Appearance With Prince Harry

Why a Commentator Says They Were ‘Nauseous’ With What Meghan Markle Decided to Wear During Appearance With Prince Harry

Find out why one journalist says the Duchess of Sussex’s recent appearance with her husband made him sick.

After weeks of appearing separately at numerous events, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared together in a special video message about children’s safety online through their Archewell Foundation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released the video, which was played at a United Nations conference in Colombia. It marked the first time the couple have been seen together since their trip to that country back in August.

The prince and former Suits star spoke about the importance of protecting young people living in the digital age. But following the duchess’s comments, a commentator posted something he observed in that video that made him “sick” and it didn’t have to do with anything Meghan said but rather what she wore.

Journalist Lee Cohen spoke to GB News about Meghan’s decision to wear a poppy after he posted about it on social media.

Cohen said: “When I saw that, I immediately made a post on Twitter (now X) that actually went viral, expressing that it makes one nauseous to see Meghan Markle wearing the poppy commemorating the noble dead of the nation. She is so disrespectful, so disrespectful, and apparently a lot of people agree.”

The publication noted that “Both the royals donned a poppy, although Meghan’s looked slightly different to the duke’s, as her’s did not seem to have leaves on the stalk. This design bears similarity to Canadian poppies made in Toronto, which have four petals and no leaf, much like those worn in Scotland.”

There was some controversy last year around this time when the duchess donned a poppy to an American Navy fitness center opening in San Diego. The confusion with that is because while poppies aren’t worn in the U.S. as much as in the U.K., they are still recognized in America as a symbol of sacrifice made by those who served and died for the country in all wars while protecting freedoms. However, they would be worn in May in the U.S. not November as National Poppy Day is observed the Friday before Memorial Day.

Why veteran Prince Harry will likely never attend U.K. Remembrance Day service again

Cohen also spoke about Prince Harry and how believes that even though the Duke of Sussex is a British army veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan, he won’t ever attend the Remembrance Day Service and ceremony in the U.K. again.

The commentator opined that while it’s “conceivable [Harry] could still appear, just not in uniform,” the state of his relationship or lack thereof with other members of the royal family makes any chance of that very “unlikely.”

“It is really unlikely that Harry is going to be able to participate in these central events with the royal family going forward,” Cohen said. “It’s a pity for him. Although he created his own path here, he stepped down in 2020. He gave up his honorary military titles and the right to wear a uniform.”
