The Baltimore Orioles made the playoffs for the second year in a row but had another disappointing showing come October.

Over the past two seasons, the Orioles have lost all five of their playoff games as they have been swept in their first series in both years.

The Orioles relied heavily on the long ball in 2024 as they hit the second most home runs in baseball with 235, trailing only the AL East rival New York Yankees at 237.

With Camden Yards one of the more difficult places to hit a home run, the Orioles have announced they will be making some changes to the dimensions before the 2025 season, according to Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun.

“The Baltimore Orioles are moving their left-field wall in by 9 [feet] to 20 feet and are lowering it from 13 feet to 8 feet, the Orioles announce today, as Orioles hitters wildly celebrate the news,” Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote on X.

Seeing as the Orioles relied primarily on the home run to score in 2024, the changes should be a reason to celebrate for their hitters, if not necessarily for their pitchers.

The changes will likely benefit right-handed hitters due to them being made in left field, so it will be interesting to see if the Orioles go after some this offseason.

Anthony Santander led the Orioles with 44 home runs in 2024, but he is a free agent and may not re-sign with the team.

With plenty of talent in the free agent class, the Orioles should have other opportunities to sign some power hitters this offseason.
