Who Is the Witch – DC’s MultiVersus Crossover Introduces a Brand-New Character

Warning: Spoilers for MultiVersus: Collision Detected #1 and #2!DC Comics’ official crossover with MultiVersus has introduced a brand-new character as the mysterious “witch.” Since MultiVersus officially dropped earlier this year, its roster of playable fighters has been growing exponentially. However, a new comic tie-in set in the MultiVersus universe has officially launched, and it’s hinting toward a brand-new character not yet available in the game.

In MultiVersus: Collision Detected #1 by Bryan Q. Miller, Jon Sommariva, and Matt Herms, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman discover they’re sharing a dreamspace that seems to be alien in origin. When they wake up, they begin seeing mysterious symbols tied in some way to the characters fans can play in MultiVersus.

Two of the symbols are fairly easy to recognize, with Batman seeing a rabbit glyph, obviously hinting at Bugs Bunny, and Superman seeing a “Star Child,” which suggests Steven Universe. However, the odd one out is Wonder Woman’s symbol, a witch, which seems to have no connections to any existing MultiVersus characters.

Who is the Witch? MultiVersus: Collision Detected #2 Holds the Answer

Main Cover by Dan Mora

Comic book cover: the Wicked Witch of the West holds heroes from the DC Universe, the Scooby Doo Universe, and the Looney Toons in her crystal ball.

When looking at MultiVersus‘ vast roster of iconic characters, there seems to be no connection to Wonder Woman’s witch glyph anywhere. The closest possible tie is Beetlejuice, but even then it’s a bit of a stretch. The choice of color for the witch in Wonder Woman’s painting gives some potential clues to who it could possibly be. However, cover art for the next chapter in Collision Detected‘s story has revealed that it’s a character who was originally leaked back in MultiVersus’ first season.

Dan Mora’s cover art for MultiVersus: Collision Detected #2 features Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and other MultiVersus characters being spied on by none other than the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. This cover appearance is a huge reveal, given how long fans of the game have been waiting for her to join the ranks of playable character. By featuring her as one of the key villains in Collision Detected, she not only poses a major threat to DC’s heroes but also hints at her eventual release in the game.

The Wicked Witch of the West Is Likely MultiVersus: Collision Detected’s “Big Bad”

But This Witch Won’t Be Alone

Given Wonder Woman receives a glyph warning her of the Wicked Witch’s arrival, it’s clear that she’s being established as Collision Detected‘s “big bad.” Her ability to keep an eye on others through her crystal ball makes her the perfect enemy to spy on DC’s heroes and their allies across the multiverse. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean she will be the only foe the MultiVersus team faces. There’s a wide array of characters at Warner Brothers’ disposal to team up with her. Some villains in particular that are currently playable in the game include Agent Smith from The Matrix, the Joker, and Stripe from Gremlins.

It won’t be long until the Wicked Witch of the West makes her official debut.

Given her appearance on the cover for Collision Detected‘s second issue, it won’t be long until the Wicked Witch of the West makes her official debut in the world of MultiVersus. However, she will undeniably be up against tough opposition, as Superman and his friends get the help of Bugs Bunny, Steven Universe and more. The MultiVersus storyline is really beginning to heat up, and this first chapter of the DC crossover has perfectly set up the newest character to arrive in the game’s roster.
