Jake Paul cruised to an 11th professional win as he earned a unanimous decision triumph over veteran heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson. Despite a fast and frantic start from the 58-year-old, the iconic boxer tired and his opponent, 31 years his junior, took advantage.
Tyson and Jake Paul battled it out at the AT&Stadium in Texas in the highly-anticipated bout – which was crowned the highest-grossing combat sports gate in Texas history and outside of Las Vegas. The 58-year-old dusted off his gloves to face the YouTuber-turned-boxer in the former WBC heavyweight champion’s first professionally sanctioned fight since his loss to Kevin McBride in 2005.
The undercard saw the rematch between Ireland’s Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, after Taylor handed the Puerto Rican the first of her two professional defeats in 2022 via split decision. They fought for the undisputed super lightweight world title, scheduled for 10 two-minute rounds, but Paul and Tyson battled it out in eight two-minute rounds.

Due to the fight being professionally sanctioned, which Paul recently claimed Tyson was the person who pushed for the move, it means the bout will count on their respective boxing records.
However, it also means they will be subject to the rules of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, who will be the body overseeing the fight.
This means that after the fight, they will be ordered to rest for a minimum of seven days. The board requires both fighters to rest for three days for every round fought.
This means because that the fight went the the full eight rounds, both fighters have to rest for a minimum of 24 days. After the fight, Tyson and Paul will be assessed by medical professionals to ensure they have not suffered any serious injuries.
If one of the fighters had lost by technical knockout – when the referee decides a fighter cannot safely continue the match for any reason – the defeated boxer will be ordered to rest for a minimum of 30 days.
When a fighter is knocked to the ground and cannot get back to their feet before the count of ten – they will have to sit out for at least 60 days.
Whatever happens, many boxing fans would hope this bout would be Tyson’s last, given his age and legacy. Meanwhile, Paul will likely not wait too long before he goes back into the ring.
