Former Australia captain George Gregan has confessed he missed Max Jorgensen’s dramatic last-minute try which sealed a stunning win for the Wallabies over England at Twickenham

Jorgensen crashed over in the 84th minute for a converted score to seal a thrilling 42-37 victory that will likely live long in the memory for those Down Under.

Even Wales legend Jonathan Davies was taken in by the drama of it all.

Previewing Sunday’s clash between Wales and Australia on S4C, Davies told Gregan: “I have to say before we start the conversation, when Australia scored that last-minute try, I haven’t screamed for a long time watching a game of rugby.

“I actually screamed. I said ‘They’re in, they’re in’.

“It must have been an amazing feeling for you at Twickenham.”

However, the Wallabies legend was forced to admit he missed the game’s decisive moment.

“It was incredible,” he said. “I haven’t said this publicly, but I was just literally going back to hospitality after our good friend (Maro) Itoje had scored and we saw Marcus Smith knock it over.

“So I said ‘I better get back back and lick my wounds and say how hard it is to score 30 plus points at Twickenham, which it really is if you’re an away team.

“So I actually missed the live moment of that try, walking 300m. I went back into the hospitality and they said ‘No, no, you’ve got it, in the 84 minute’, and I was over the moon.”

Wales will be hoping for greater success when they take on the Wallabies at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with Warren Gatland’s men hoping to avoid what would be a record 11th straight Test defeat.
