With a 2-10 record, a bad history with injuries, and three losses in a row, the Philadelphia 76ers are looking for as much good news as they can find.
Some encouraging news is coming from rookie Jared McCain, who was praised by Jay Bilas on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
After calling McCain “a winner,” Bilas said, “He puts the work in, and he’s got a great personality for the game.”

So far this season, he is averaging 14.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 47.4 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from the three-point line.
McCain was selected by the 76ers as the 16th overall pick in the 2024 draft.
At the time, it wasn’t clear what his future would look like and fans weren’t sure how often he’d be used by the team during his first year.
That’s partly because he is viewed as relatively small for the NBA, measuring just six-foot-two.
But the Sixers obviously like what they see from McCain because he has played in 12 games and even started in two of them.
He is on the court for an average of 20 minutes per game.
The 76ers have been hobbled by injuries and are not the team they were supposed to be.
But this has actually given McCain an opportunity to play more, prove himself, and earn the appreciation and belief of his team, coaching staff, and fans.
Plus, he plays with a bright and happy personality and is obviously very happy to be there.
There are many reasons to be worried about the Sixers right now but McCain is a reason to be optimistic about the future.
