Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains spoilers for Venom: The Last Dance.
An Agent Venom movie is reportedly being looked into by Sony after Tom Hardy ended his Venom trilogy. Hardy played Eddie Brock, arguably Venom’s most famous host, but another host that the Venom symbiote has been known to be associated with is Peter Parker’s high school bully, Flash Thompson.
An Agent Venom film could fit right into the SSU, and there can be multiple routes that Sony could go with the character. However, there is one route that the studio could go to make the character even more interesting, by bringing in an actor from one of their established Spider-Man universe, as the Flash Thompson of this universe.
Zack Snyder’s Deathstroke would make the perfect Agent Venom
Joe Manganiello has played Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Audiences have also seen Manganiello in an assassin’s outfit, thanks to his uncredited cameo in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The actor would be the perfect fit to be the Agent Venom of the SSU, given that Venom was shown to be still alive, at least in part, at the end of Venom: The Last Dance.
Given that Manganiello has already played Flash, this might not necessarily confirm that the characters exist in the same universe as the Raimi-Verse. Manganiello could play a different version of Flash Thompson, one who has had the history that the character does to put him on the path of Agent Venom. This also gives the SSU its first proper hero, given that it has so far been recycling villains and anti-heroes in the hopes of making a viable cinematic universe.
Agent Venom could be the stand-in for Spider-Man in the SSU
Given that the SSU still lacks a Spider-Man, Agent Venom could serve as the heroic center of the universe, fighting villains that are traditionally going after Spider-Man. Kraven the Hunter even has a history of hunting the character, mistaking him for Spider-Man. The only plot hole that will need to be solved is the fact that Spider-Man directly inspires Flash Thompson to be better. This motivation could be changed by Flash’s finding out about Eddie Brock and all the good he did.
Agent Venom could not only assemble the other villains in a bid to reform them but also be the hero leading the charge against Knull. It might seem that Knull will be set up as the main antagonist for the story of the SSU going forward, but given that it shares a multiverse with the MCU, it could have some other major development that could tie the SSU into Secret Wars.
