Outbreaks of rain in some areas may turn heavy today but it will be dry and sunny elsewhere, Met Éireann has said.

Rain in Munster and south Leinster will move up to the rest of Leinster in the morning in afternoon, and into east Ulster in the evening. Heavy rain is most likely in the south.

Connacht and most of Ulster will enjoy some bright sunny spells with the best of the weather forecast for the northwest. Highest temperatures will be between 11 and 14 degrees.

It is expected to be dry in Connacht and Munster overnight with some clear spells in the west and southwest. There will be some outbreaks of rain in Ulster and the eastern half of Leinster, some turning heavy in coastal areas. It will be coldest in Munster counties with lows of 4 to 9 degrees.

Thursday is set to be mostly cloudy and rain will spread across the country, with some heavy rain expected. There is a possibility of spot flooding in the east of the country, where the worst of the rain is forecast.

North Ulster will see some drier weather into Thursday evening with highs of 9 to 13 degrees. Thursday night will start cloudy and wet in many areas before clearing southwards. Temperatures will go to lows of 6 to 9 degrees.

Met Éireann’s outlook for the week is mixed with some rain on the way but bright, sunny spells as well. There will be scattered showers across most of the country on Friday with just isolated showers in the east and southeast.

Saturday looks set to be a nice autumn’s day, with cool temperatures and sunny spells. There will be a few well scattered showers, mainly in the west and north, with highs of 11 to 13 degrees.

Rain in the southwest will spread across the country on Sunday morning, heavy at times with spot flooding possible in Munster and Leinster.
