Todd Cantwell insists there is plenty more to come from him after a positive start to his Rovers career.

The versatile midfielder hade made 11 appearances so far since his move from Rangers, with seven of those coming from the start.

Cantwell was initially phased into the side to build up his fitness but believes that he is now ready to kick on in the Championship.

“I’m up to speed now with my fitness, definitely, although I’d been struggling with a bit of illness for the last couple of weeks so I’d not been 100 per cent,” he told RoversTV.

“It’s really important now to kick on and show people the fully fit Todd.

“You can’t really be judged on your output until you’ve had five or six starts. Ask most professionals and they’ll probably say that coming off the bench is very different to starting a game.

“I’ve got those starts under my belt now and I’m really looking forward to football coming back.

“I think I’ve been solid, trustworthy and have brought a technical aspect to games, but there’s a lot more to come from me and I’m really looking forward to the games we have coming up.”

The 26-year-old had a tough pre-season in Glasgow before heading to Ewood Park, training away from the first team at Rangers.

Cantwell is grateful for how John Eustace managed his minutes in the early stages and is now hungry to hit the ground running after the international break.

“I always play on the edge and like to entertain, that’s the way I’ve always been since I was a kid,” he continued.

“I’ve probably only hit 70 per cent so far, which can be deemed as good or bad, but that’s an honest reflection.

“I’ve not been overwhelmed by what I’ve done so far, but I also feel quite proud considering where I’ve come from and how I wasn’t training with a first team before coming here.

“The manager’s been great with me, we’ve been very open and honest regarding where I’m at and where he sees me.

“It was a real temptation to put me in early, I’d have wanted that as well, but I’ve been managed really well in that sense.”

“I feel the block of games that I’ve got through and what I’ve got through physically, it’s put me in a good place to kick on.”
