This season hasn’t been the return to Super Bowl contention the Cincinnati Bengals expected after quarterback Joe Burrow dealt with multiple injuries last season.

They fell in a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Chargers, 34-27, on Sunday evening, and they have now lost three of their last four games, giving them a 4-7 record, and their chances of making the playoffs seem to be slim to none.

Burrow was short with the media after that loss, but he did admit that this is the most frustrating season he has had, per ClutchPoints.

Burrow is a man who got used to contending for the Super Bowl shortly after entering the NFL in the 2020 season.

That year, he tore his ACL and MCL, but the following season, he bounced back and led Cincinnati to the Super Bowl, where they narrowly lost to the Los Angeles Rams.

The year after that, they lost in the AFC Championship Game to the eventual world champion Kansas City Chiefs.

While most of the Bengals’ core from the 2021 and 2022 seasons remains intact, they have simply been unable to rediscover the mojo that made them the biggest threat to the Chiefs in the AFC.

The team went just 9-8 last season as Burrow battled a calf strain during training camp and early in the season before tearing a ligament in his right wrist during Week 11 and missing the rest of the year.

It will now have its bye week, and it may need to go undefeated the rest of the season in order to reach the playoffs.
