The 2024-25 NBA season has not been kind to the Milwaukee Bucks over the first few weeks, with Giannis Antetokounmpo and company struggling to prove that they are a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference, after flaming out quickly in the NBA playoffs last season.
Milwaukee has started the 2024-25 campaign with an ugly record of 2-7, which puts them in the bottom tier of teams in the East when this team was hoping to be one of the biggest threats to the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics, who are cruising during their title defense with a record of 8-2.
With the Bucks struggling as much as they have through their first nine games, the trade speculation has started to swirl in Milwaukee, with some wondering whether Antetokounmpo could be available.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Antetokounmpo will be only available for a trade this season if he asks the team to move him ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February via Bleacher Report.
“It is understood quite clearly in 29 other front offices that Antetokounmpo is only ever going to be made available for trade if he pushes for it,” Stein wrote on Sunday.
With Milwaukee heading in the wrong direction and the Damian Lillard experiment looking like a bust, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that Antetokounmpo starts looking for greener pastures.
The only way trade speculation will start to dissipate is if the team turns things around, and at this point in time, there’s no telling whether that will happen this season.
