The Boston Red Sox have nine World Series titles in franchise history with the most recent coming in 2018.

Since that title, the Red Sox have made the postseason once in six seasons, and they have to deal with the New York Yankees in the AL East.

However, the Red Sox could change those tides if they can land superstar free agent Juan Soto this offseason.

Red Sox legend David Ortiz recently gave his thoughts on Soto possibly joining the organization to El Vocero de Puerto Rico.

“I see him on the Red Sox, I really do. Unless something else happens because other teams are trying too. Even myself, I’m doing my work with him,” Ortiz said, via Boston Strong.

Ortiz played 14 seasons for the Red Sox, and it appears he would like nothing more than to see Soto on his former team instead of on the Yankees, or somewhere else, next season.

Soto is the top free agent this offseason after his first season with the Yankees when he batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs and a .988 OPS.

The Red Sox haven’t won the AL East since 2018, and if they can find a way to sign Soto this offseason, they could have an advantage over the Yankees in 2025 and for long after that.

Soto came into the league in 2018 with the Washington Nationals and has played for them, the San Diego Padres and Yankees in his relatively short MLB career.

It will take a huge amount of money on a contract of several years to land Soto, but such a deal could make him a member of the Boston organization for the peak of his career.
