How To Access Starfield: Shattered Space DLC
Hop Into Your Ship And Choose An Unused Orbit
To access Starfield: Shattered Space, you must have the base Starfield game. Shattered Space is simply DLC that expands on the original game and the world of Starfield, so make sure to have the original game downloaded and installed. Anyone who previously purchased the Premium or Constellation editions of Starfield will get Shattered Space for free. However, those who have purchased only the standard base game must also purchase the DLC.
Unfortunately, this means that players on Xbox Game Pass will have to purchase the DLC.
The good news is that Game Pass subscribers get a 10% discount.
For new players, you won’t be able to access the DLC right away. You must complete the first Starfield Mission, “One Small Step,” before accessing the DLC. Fortunately, the mission isn’t too hard to complete and just shows you the basics of the gameplay. Plus, the mission gives you some decent loot.
Overall, you should be able to complete the mission in under an hour. Once you’ve completed the first mission, take your ship to any unused orbit. You’ll receive a distress call, and you’ll find The Oracle. The distress call will start your journey into the Shattered Space DLC.
What Level You Should Be For Shattered Space

Unfortunately, according to Starfield’s developer, Bethesda, the recommended level for accessing Shattered Space is level 35. While this isn’t mandatory, players who enter the DLC unprepared may have a hard time playing through it. The details as to why the recommended level is 35 aren’t clear yet, but we can assume it has something to do with new enemy encounters. Of course, as in any game, it’s better to have the proper items and loot before tackling bigger threats.
